Aphra Taghizadeh

Aphra Taghizadeh (b. 1999, Isfahan) is a multimedia artist based in Cologne whose practice revolves around collaboration and encompasses roles such as directing, editing, CGI, research, and writing. His work explores spatial aspects of human cognition in societal contexts, utilizing mediums such as XR, film, installation, and performance.
His latest work, the Mixed Reality documentary Speechless Witness of a Wandering Tree (2024) was premiered at the 37th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and was part of the MIT R&D program.

In 2021, he won the Best Experimental Award at the Austrian Film Festival for co-directing Fort-Da Game, a short film linked to his research on themes such as repetition compulsion and the transfer of guilt. In 2023, he made a documentary titled Ja'az, focusing on the history of jazz music in the Middle East, which premiered at the Nahal International Short Film Festival in Tehran and has screened at festivals internationally.
