60cm x 30 x 30 cm

Jenneta Petch and Szymon Kula create speculative fictions and rural fantasies inspired by pastoral sci-fi, imagining possible futures where time portals overlap and tradition and innovation cross over into absurdity. They displace deep past materialisms into a contemporary context, re-exploring their viabilities, potential adaptations and community roles beyond the local economy. In the context of environmental breakdown, they investigate the future purpose of craft practices and the potential utopias they can generate, as well as how they can aid our survival in unknown prospective ecosystems.

Plaster 27*12*10 cm

Habitus is about one hundred casts in plaster Birkenstock sandals placed in the plastic boxes, that are usually used in the German factories of the brand. Is the individual and independent choice possible in the world of manufacturing in large quantities identity traits? What is the aim of this subconscious signalling of social membership and belonging? The plaster shoes are represented in male, female and children sizes (41, 38, 27) with the link to the idea of how the social identity is formed by the family and social circle and form the perception and behaviour of the younger generations. This is an ingrained set of dispositions that shape the way we perceive and react to the world.
