the Hardship programme

2022/2026
of the AIR InSILo is aiming to host artists in critical life situations, be they crises, wars, and political persecutions; as well as independently invite and host artists, curators, and cultural workers who had lost their income or who suffer difficult life circumstances. The Emergency Program, created in 2022, aims to prioritise female artists with children and artists from countries without sufficient support programs. In 2025, the residency decided to discontinue the rapid-response model, recognising that administrative requirements make such an approach difficult to implement effectively.
The new Hardship Programme offers the same conditions as the regular open call but provides a fixed residency period of three months. This allows artists facing difficult circumstances more time and stability during their stay.
To apply, applicants must submit a cover letter and any relevant supporting documents. Selected artists will be exempt from paying the solidarity fee.

We invite everyone to become a supporter:
  • to buy artworks from the InSILo Gallery in physical form
  • to become a PATRON of the emergency program;
  • to send via PayPal;
  • to send via bank: ERSTE BANK, IBAN: AT642011184382869900,
BIC/SWIFT: GIBAATWWXXX
  • or donate ETHER (0xC8F7594bF1654E23f06e1ED058844A7d82e8332d)!

During March, April, and May 2022, the residence was hosting and subsidising artists and cultural workers: Tereza Barabash and her son (Lviv, UA), Yuliia Pendrak and her daughter (Lviv, UA), Daria Hetmanova (Mariupol, UA). During the round 2022/23 we host Olha Pylnyk with her two children, Oleksandr Sirous, Dmytro Tentiuk, and Danil Siabro (Kyiv, UA).
