Emanuel Geisser and Kama Sokolnicka
Kama Sokolnicka (b. 1978 in Poland) and Emanuel Geisser (b. 1974 in Switzerland) are not a permanent artistic duo, but share a household in private life. They live and work in Berlin, Germany. Over the past years, they have repeatedly worked together on numerous projects.
Due to recurring themes, shared interests, and a generally kindred approach of artistic methods, their occasional collaborations are quite symbiotic. They develop and explore concepts from different but complementary perspectives. In their projects and exhibitions, individually created works and collaborations intermingle and complement each other.
Both artist´s practices are connected by interests in the laws of nature, the persistence of physical phenomena and the fragile systems that hold everything together. Both their joint and individual approaches are based on techniques of montage and assemblage and combine collage, drawing, installation, video and print with conceptual processes and artistic research.
From 2020-22 Geisser and Sokolnicka realised the project „Transversal Encounter“, a pan-European research travel in a van transformed into a living-working capsule. They worked together on the following exhibitions: „As Far As I Can See“ (2022) in SiC BWA Wrocław, „Incontro Trasversale“ (2024) in Meinblau, Berlin, „Ground Training“ (2024) in Forma Otwarta, as a prologue to the Cosmic Era Festival in Oleśnica, „Afterglow“ (2025) in CK Zamek, Poznań and "Autobahn" (2026) in the Muzeum Architektury we Wrocławiu.
