Masha Kiseleva

March 2025
Masha Kiseleva (b. 1991) is a Paris-based Siberian artist in exile, known for her actionist and politically engaged art. Her work spans visual art, performance and activism, exploring themes of resistance, dissent, and state repression.
Her career began in Russia, where she played a significant role in organizing "Monstrations", absurdist marches challenging political discourse. She authored many of the movement’s defining slogans (2010–2014), despite repeated attempts by authorities to suppress it. She also created the Pussy Riot icon, later banned in Russia and embedded in a time capsule at Harvard University.

Kiseleva has participated in numerous international exhibitions, including Saatchi Gallery (London, UK), Ludwig Forum (Aachen, Germany), and Institut Superieur des Beaux‑Arts Besancon (Franche‑Comte, France). Her work directs the surveillance and algorithmic control merging into a digital panopticon, transforming power into an invisible, inescapable condition of life, while addressing human rights violations, including state censorship. Since 2023, she has lived in Paris as a member of L'atelier des artistes en exil.
